In developing countries, isolated communities face several barriers to communication. Lack of infrastructure is the main block, but language barriers also play a major role. To say the digital divide between rich and poor nations is huge is an understatement. The connectivity gap narrows even further between big cities and rural areas. In Africa, the lack of internet, electricity and transportation access—coupled with cultural differences—makes free flow of information impossible in many communities. 

Strategic Aviation Services (SAS) adopts alternative solutions to the problem, using General Aviation. Providing a means of transportation to remote areas is just one of SAS’s several approaches to bridging the communication gap. Community engagement initiatives can be facilitated, using airborne leaflet drops, in situations including emergencies. 

Essential services like mail deliveries can be guaranteed, using small aircraft, including drones. Using aerial surveys, our trained aviation crew can identify the best locations for internet infrastructure, to maximize reach and impact. Through air transport services, equipment and technical personnel can reach unroaded places where internet services are needed. SAS is open to working with various stakeholders to establish strategies to maximize equitable access to Information and Communication Technology.
