One major obstacle to economic growth in developing countries is the lack of transport connectivity between remote communities and larger population centers. The areas most affected are rural communities, where infrastructure is least developed. Africa is among the worst. Strategic Aviation Services (SAS) is on a mission to help drive socio-economic growth across the continent, using general aviation- based solutions.
In Africa, where agriculture is the leading trade, and tourism a top revenue generator, sustainable air services are critical. The lack of transportation between production and selling points, and to tourism destinations, seriously undermines economic goals. In places like Ghana, significant amounts of food produced in rural areas perish yearly, despite ready markets for them across the country and elsewhere. People with health conditions, living in communities inaccessible by road, go without medical care. Decision makers, including government officials, subject matter experts, businesses and philanthropists, are often unable to travel to specific locations in remote areas to access needs firsthand. Rural mobility is critical in driving productivity, boosting trades, safeguarding food security, and strengthening workforces. General Aviation can change the dynamics with air taxis and air cargo services. SAS aims at partnerships with various stakeholders to develop sustainable aviation systems, to make community air transport affordable and accessible.
